Review of 5150 Fighter Command

5150 Fighter Command is the first ruleset I write for Two Hour Wargames. What I tried to do with this ruleset is giving you the chance to fly a star fighter just like you did in the PC game Wing Commander. In case you never played that game, just imagine how it would be flying a Star Wars X-wing or Interceptor and you will have a very close view of Fighter Commander.

Gears of War

Or Hishen Wars I should say, as I bought this game box to use the figures as Hishen for the 5150 universe by Two Hour Wargames. Such universe does not have official miniatures and it is very difficult to find something similar to the illustrations.

Well, Acheson Miniatures has some Hishen and Grath but they are so ugly that I would not even want them for free! Here you can see an illustration of a Grath from the 5150 ruleset and my find from Gow.

And here you can see the Acheson's Grath (Eeeeew!).

Anyway, I will play the game Gears of War one of these days and maybe I would like it! :)

 This would be a Hishen team or squad. 1 Razor (top left), 1 Grath (top right), 3 Hishen warriors, the one in the middle specialist with a stun cannon to get prisoners alive, 2 uncompleted Hishen warriors used as trackers or shepherds, and 2 "hounds" to chase fugitives. The game gives you enough figures to build three squads.

 These are the four marines it comes in the box.

A shot next to one GW's Space Marine and one Copplestone's marine. As you can see, although the GoW marine is thinner and taller, it matches perfectly with them. The miniatures are made of semi rigid plastic like the ones from Doom or Descent.

With these 10 mm miniatures from Pendraken I just painted this morning, I finish another project I started here and here. My intention is to play some skirmishes with them and some dungeon bash as well. I hope to post a BATREP soon.

Hishen reinforcements

I ordered three ships from the Yamato/Star Blazers serie to Hobby Link Japan for just 13 € including P&P! They have an excellent customer service and packaging and I recommend them.

Well, here you have the two small ones of 12-13 cm. long, but the big one, a carrier, is 25 cm. long. I will paint it next and post a picture of two next to these babies.

I painted these two ships with the Hishen colours as I did not have any Hishen Capship. They will soon participate on a new campaign I am designing and which be released as a future supplement for 5150 Fighter Commander.

Reinforcements for Fighter Command.

I just finished the last batch of plastic Silent Death fighters that I am using for 5150 Fighter Commander. After this I will start with some capital ships I ordered to Hobby Link Japan.
Soon I will start a new campaign with all these ships.

Este es el último grupo de naves de plástico del antiguo rango de Silent Death que estoy usando para jugar a 5150 Fighter Commander. Después de esto pintaré algunas naves grandes que pedí a Hobby Link Japan.

My full Warmaster Orc army

Well, here it is my full Orc army for Warmaster that I started many many years ago, when it was first released! There are closer pics of it at my 10 mm gallery.

Now I have to put it to good use and kill some Elves.

Bueno, aquí está por fin mi ejército orco para Warmaster que empezé hace ya tantos años, justo cuando salió el juego. Tienen fotos más de cerca en mi galería de 10 mm. 

Ahora a ver si les doy buen uso y masacro unos cuantos elfos.

Having finished my 10 mm. Orc army and being done with 10 mm. for the rest of this year, I painted this beauty in 28 mm. from Hasslefree. I painted it to play my first game of CROM firstly, but she will fight on more different games and adventures no doubt.

Después de terminar mi ejército orco y acabar con los 10 mm al menos por este año, decidí pintar esta belleza de Hasslefree en 28 mm. La pinté para jugar mi primera partida a CROM, aunque sin duda luchará en muchas más aventuras y juegos.

When I saw her helmet and armour I instantly thought of bronze, but seeing the lack of contrast between her blonde hair and the armour I should have gone with steel instead. Anyway, what the miniature really needs is more lights, especially in the trousers, gloves and boots; but I could not bother to add some white to the base colours and raise them up a little bit more. I must get into the wet palette sooner than later.

Cuando le ví el casco y la armadura enseguida pensé en pintarlos de bronce, pero después de ver lo poco que contrasta su pelo con el metal pienso que debería haberla pintado en acero. En cualquier caso, lo que la figura necesita de verdad son más luces, sobretodo en los pantalones, guantes y botas, pero no tenía ganas de mezclar blanco y subir colores. Tengo que intentar lo de la paleta húmeda a ver que tal.

 

Anyway, I love this miniature. Its sculpting is so delicate that reminds me of those from Tom Meier, althought Hasslefree's are quite more dynamic. This one for example has a very striking pose. My only minor complaint about the miniature is how she is rising her shield in front of her, as she could not see a thing that way nor you can see her face.

En cualquier caso me encanta esta miniatura. Su esculpido es tan delicado como las de Tom Meier, aunque esta es mucho más dinámica. Mi única pequeña queja respecto a esta mini es la forma en que sujeta su escudo. Tal cual está no puede ver a sus enemigos y tampoco el jugador puede apreciar su rostro.
