Another Frazetta's

I have painted another Bronze Age miniature inspired on one of Frazetta's illustrations; a sea raider.

Not historically accurate, but a gorgeous model deserving to lead a raiding warband on any gaming table!

Dunno why, I envisioned him clad in blue and silver instead of gold and red.

 

The shield comes sculpted and only needs paint.

Once again, the pose is dynamic yet his face and general aspect is classic. I love it.

Fire & Ice

Remember Tygra from Frazetta? Well, here you have one of his main characters. As soon as I saw it I knew I need it to live, and last weekend I finally painted it. 
Not sure why, but I decided to drybrush the whole miniature like when I started painting years ago; maybe because the "oldschool" vibe in it.

Nevertheless, the figure is so dynamic and classic at the same time, that it shines even with a standard painting, and now I'm the happy owner of a well-known berserk or barbarian who will fight many fantastic as well as historical battles.

 

Starting a campaign with Blood Eagle

Viking civilians

After trying Blood Eagle I have hastily painted some Viking civilians to get slaughtered or rescued in our incoming campaign.
They are from Foundry Miniatures.

I have also dipped enough Late Romans from the new Gripping Beast's plastics to make a Romano-British warband for Blood Age, and I am quite happy with how they have turned out, but I am not uploading here yet until I receive some decals from LBM.

Blood Eagle, first game.

Last weekend we had our first game with Blood Eagle. We played the first scenario, the raid, with 250 point warbands; one of Viking raiders and the other with Saxons. Though almost doubled in numbers, the superior quality of the Viking raiders made them to win easily once they engaged in melee.

Here we can see the Saxons deployed around the great hall to protect their women and children. 

Slingers could only fire once and then everybody was engaged in melee.

The Viking berserk and a veteran warrior at the top right quickly dispatched three fyrd men and gained access to the great hall. On the left some Viking warriors also made short work of their enemies. I lost several men and my two huscarles.

All in all we quite liked the rules and I have returned to paint Vikings again with the hope of playing a full campaign. Tomorrow we will play a second game, this time with three players, and will see how it goes.

SPACE HULK 1991!

I have dusted off my old Space Hulk to play it with my son During Easter. So far we have played the first five missions and he is loving it!

Who would have guessed back in 1.991 when I bought it, that I will be playing it with my son 25 years later? Just the thought of it is so awesome!
