The Art of War. In memory of a friend.

I discovered this post, that never got finished nor published, when my friend Antonio Santana Alonso and me tried ADLG a few years ago. It brought me memories so I decided to finally publish it in memory of my friend Antonio who got cancer and passed away this last month. Farewell my friend.

"This is my fourth battle of Art of War, a system I am really enjoying, and so far I have played 100 and 200 points games. So today we tried a semi-official rules for games at 120 points which are great as they allow you to deploy two divisions with one general each for almost the same number of units than games at 100 points with only one general and one division.

We could play two matches in an evening, swapping sides in each game. We played Seleucids vs. Romans with Pergamene allies.

All the forces are H&R 6mm armies from my friend Antonio.

    I am very sorry your friend has passed away Javier. This is a great way to remember the good times you had with him.

      Thank you Ben. We become friends in the early eigthies through wargaming. He introduced me to WRG ancients and napoleonics and then to DBA and DBM and other games like Command Decision. On 2017 we tried ADLG for several times but the translation of the rules wasn't very good and the system seemed to us a bit complicated to what it offered, so we put it aside in then end.

      Thank you. Antonio and Paco who passed away on 2020 were my gaming group and very close friends since the beginning, and although now I have got new friends to play with, it is not the same.

      Thank you Phil. Antonio was a man of immense culture who could tell you endless funny stories from ancient times as well as a source of knowledge. I never had to read or search anything as I only had to ask him to get an instant answer. He was also a cunning player so yes, very good times. Best Phil.
